Our Work

What We Do

We work at the intersection of science, communities, and civil society to ensure that scientific knowledge generates real value for people and territories.

Science for Community acts as a bridge between academia and society, supporting the translation of research outcomes into accessible knowledge and real-world applications. Our work is grounded in a multi-actor and participatory approach, bringing together researchers, citizens, public authorities, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders throughout the research and innovation process.

A core element of our work is a multi-stakeholder approach, which brings together researchers, citizens, public institutions, civil society organizations, and other relevant actors. This approach is essential to ensure that scientific processes and results have a meaningful and lasting impact on civil society.

How We Create Impact

Science Communication, Dissemination and Community Uptake

We design and implement communication and dissemination strategies that enhance the visibility, accessibility, and uptake of research results, in line with open science principles. We support the dissemination of scientific outcomes through inclusive, accessible, and impact-driven formats, ensuring that research contributes to policy-making, community empowerment, and societal change, while placing community uptake at the centre of our approach to impact and exploitation.

Citizen Science and Multi-actor Collaboration

We design and implement projects based on multi-actor partnerships, actively engaging citizens and communities in research and innovation activities. Through co-design, co-creation, and participatory data collection, we foster collaboration across sectors to address complex social, environmental, and cultural challenges, in line with Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) practices.

Making Science Understandable & User-Friendly

We transform complex scientific publications into clear, accessible, and user-friendly formats, enabling non-specialist audiences to understand, interpret, and use scientific knowledge. By translating academic research into plain language summaries, visual content, and practical insights, we help bridge the gap between scientific evidence and everyday decision-making.

Research Support, Studies and Analysis

We contribute to research activities, studies, and analytical work at local, national, and European level, ensuring that projects are informed by societal needs, stakeholder perspectives, and policy relevance.

Capacity Building and Skills Development

We develop training and capacity-building activities aimed at strengthening scientific literacy, stakeholder engagement skills, and participatory competences among researchers, practitioners, and citizens.

Community-based and Multi-actor Projects

We design and implement projects based on multi-actor partnerships, supporting collaboration across sectors to address complex social, environmental, and cultural challenges.

Community Uptake of Research Results

Scientific knowledge generates value only when it is understood, trusted, and used by the communities it is meant to serve. For this reason, we work to ensure that research results are actively adopted and integrated into community practices, decision-making processes, and everyday contexts.

Through a multi-actor approach, we engage citizens, civil society organizations, and public institutions to support community uptake and transform scientific results into lasting social value.
